In a press briefing at the global Media Center in the World Trade Center, Ambassador Marciano Paynor, Jr., APEC 2015 National Organizing Council director general, confirmed that the organizers had asked hotel and building owners along Roxas Boulevard to keep their windows shut during the events.

APEC consists of 21 member-economies including developed and developing countries namely: Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, United States, Chinese Taipei, People’s Republic of China, Hong Kong, Canada, Mexico, Papua New Guinea, Chile, Peru, Russian Federation and Vietnam.

But since Aquino and Xi will be seatmates, they will have the opportunity to talk about issues that are bilateral in nature.

“Yes, definitely. Because China was the previous host, we have what we call a troika and this is a normal practice among the APEC economies who are hosting”, Paynor explained.

Reports said it also spent $6 billion on the preparations for the Apec Economic Leaders’ Meeting (AELM).

In fact, days after the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, a powerhouse Philippine team is returning to The Hague, Netherlands, to present the merits of Manila’s historic case against Beijing.

On Wednesday, the Philippine distributor of BMW donated to the Apec organizers a few 200 units for the esteemed delegates and ministers.

President Xi Jinping will attend the G20 summit from November the 14th to 16th in Antalya, Turkey, at the invitation of his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

That meeting was held for 10 minutes after a tree-planting ceremony in Beijing.
