QB Stidham from prep playoffs to No. 4 Baylor’s title push

Out of the conversation. He’s a good football player. “I wasn’t playing at all, but you just felt bad for everybody because they put in all this hard work, and they prepared as best they could for the game, but it was just a weird atmosphere”. The one-loss Sooners are only a game behind Baylor and Oklahoma State in the Big 12 Conference Football Standings. This league isn’t kind. It also meant that none of the teams had a signature victory on the season because none played an impressive non-conference opponent. It it’s all pretty clean, actually.

Stidham will approach each of the four remaining games of the regular season like a must-win situation. They play solid defense, as well. They were simply pulverized in Stillwater. The secondary was non-existent and even the offensive playcalling was flat.

There will be no bigger game in college football this week than Baylor-Oklahoma. “I think it has to do with what people want their opinions to be….” I feel like I’m back in high school, and it’s one at a time. The Wildcats are well coached, but are not a good team. That’s the biggest change in our latest bowl pairings, with the slight exception of Houston’s arrival as the Group of Five’s new New Year’s Six representative.

Meet this year’s Iowa State Cyclones, said Rhoads. We saw how much that matters Tuesday night.

I’ll take a little comfort in chaos. The Lady Bears are the preseason favorite to win the Big 12 this year and have won the last five Phillips 66 Big 12 Women’s Basketball championships. “We’re just focused on doing whatever we can to win”.

“It’s awfully good for our football program, it’s awfully good for Baylor University and it’s good for Waco, Texas”, Briles said.

Beating Baylor would be one thing, but having Sterling Shepard haul in the game-winning touchdown to respond to Williams’ iconic score would be poetry in motion and the ideal kick start to raise the national pundits of the Sooners. The Jayhawks have barely racked up 3,000 total yards into November; quarterback Montell Cozart is going to have season-ending shoulder injury, and his replacement, Ryan Willis tramples on with a sore groin.

Josh Doctson’s state is still uncertain. “It’s about a 12- to 13-minute drive to home and back here”. He’ll live with that. He’ll need to be bodacious this Saturday, when rejuvenated Oklahoma comes to town.

“We didn’t tackle well the whole game”, he added, referring to the Oklahoma game. Hence the number of the number of plays reaching the triple digits.

Before Iowa State gets a chance to post another upset of Oklahoma State, there are improvements to be made, lessons to learn in the wake of last weekend’s 52-16 loss at Oklahoma. Baylor averages 15.4 points during that period, one of the best in the country.

Rather, the liability is Baylor’s defense. Friends would be saying, Hey, did you see what this guy said about you?’ I came to Baylor to play as soon as possible.

The Pokes’ defense took TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin out of the Heisman Trophy race.

Again, the credit all goes to Oklahoma State. So, Saturday starts rebuilding the confidence. “We’ve been in a bunch of big games since 2010, really”. However, what Baylor really has this year and has committed to is a running game. Kyle Hicks is the next great American Hero, and Trevorris Johnson looked really on Saturday as well.

Gary Patterson’s teams have always responded well to this sort of thing. They average 45 points a game, however, they also average giving up 42 points a game. Baylor had a stunning comeback? Elsewhere, perhaps the best non-Power 5 game of the season is on the docket between Memphis and Houston. It’s nearly impossible to make this not sound like a cliche-ridden motivational speech. “I became a better man from it and I became a better leader for it”. OU head coach Bob Stoops knows how important Baylor’s run game is to its offense. Perhaps not. Oklahoma’s resume is not flawless, but no team’s resume is.
