Former Knicks draft pick Michael Wright found dead inside auto in Brooklyn

A former Knicks draft pick was found dead in an SUV in Brooklyn – covered in garbage bags, authorities said. An autopsy will determine his cause of death.

Wright graduated from Arizona in 2001 after one of the greatest College careers in the school’s basketball history.

The medical examiner has deemed the death a homicide. I after he’d been reported missing from New Jersey, officials said.

Michael Wright, 35, was found dead Tuesday in the back seat of a Lexus sport-utility vehicle parked on East 16th Street near Avenue J, police sources told CBS2.

In 2001, after being drafted by the Knicks, Wright moved to Poland to play, according to Euroleague Basketball. “He played so hard, helped us win so many games”.

A family member told the Chicago Sun-Times that it doesn’t appear Wright was the victim of foul play. Pastner had kept in touch with Wright but said he had not spoken with him for several months. Wright played pro bal continuously since departing the University of Arizona in 2001, taking Turkish citizenship during his time playing in Asia Minor.

At Farragut, Wright was a freshman on the star-studded team that included Garnett and Ronnie Fields.

Details are slowly coming out, but the Daily News cites police sources saying Wright might have been murdered by a man he met on a gay dating app.
