Deputies had been called to a report of a domestic dispute at the home, Carlton said. He says they found the man pointing a gun at a woman. Deputies originally left when the scene appeared under control. When the man refused the command to drop his weapon, the deputies drew their weapons and fired, according to the reports. No injuries were reported by the deputies.
The woman inside the home was not hurt.
Details are still limited at this time, but we do know that the person shot was not an officer.
SLED and the Aiken County Coroner’s office are investigating.
An autopsy was planned Thursday in Newberry.
