Americans are pausing to thank and honor the veterans who have bravely served our country.
“Being one of the Gulf veterans myself, I support the brothers and sisters who have come back from there”, said one veteran.
The event, sponsored by AT&T, H-E-B and US Family Health Plan, with a Veterans Job & Resource Fair and US Family Health Plan Veterans Health Fair.
Thousands gathered for Columbia’s 37th Veterans Day Parade Wednesday afternoon.
“It means a lot; obviously I’m here”, said Navy veteran Bob White. “On behalf of the county, we’re going to pray for our veterans’ care because it’s not right how they are sometimes treated after they’ve gone to war and a few of them have lost their lives”.
The parade is organized by the United War Veterans Council. For many of us we lost comrades.
Hundreds of participants marched down Sumter Street toward the State House in recognition of the efforts and dedicated service of veterans in the U.S. Armed Forces.
Servicemen who served in all branches saluted their respected flag as they were carried down the lawn at Veterans Memorial Park during the ceremony.
