Scott Dann’s late strike handed Crystal Palace an exciting 2-1 victory over Liverpool after a well-contested Barclays Premier League clash at Anfield.

The visitors had taken the lead through winger Yannick Bolasie, who swivelled inside the box to fire in after the Reds failed to clear the ball.
The pain of defeat was compounded for the Liverpool manager by a potentially serious knee injury to his in-form defender Mamadou Sakho, who left Anfield on crutches and in a knee brace.
Liverpool equalised shortly before the interval through Brazil playmaker Philippe Coutinho’s close-range effort.
Crystal Palace started the first-half strongly, putting Liverpool under great amounts of pressure in defence from the off, but couldn’t make their dominance count in terms of a goal.

Ibe’s goal ended a run of three successive 1-1 draws and has put Liverpool on the brink of qualification for the knockout stage with a game to spare.
After it, the home side maintained their superiority in possession, while looking susceptible to the counter-attack, with Bakary Sako wasteful with a shot into the side-netting and Jason Puncheon’s well-struck 20-yard shot drawing a fine, diving stop from the alert Mignolet. “If we learn from this defeat, then it will be a very important defeat”.
“After the goal on 82 minutes, with 12 minutes to go, I saw many people leaving the stadium”.
“Pardew added: “[Me and Klopp] are just expressive in our feelings, a little bit more so than maybe other managers”. They face a disappointing side in Sunderland next week, so this result would give them momentum and confidence as they prepare for next week’s game.
Hopefully, the players can stick together and if they do, Liverpool are nearly guaranteed another three points in the league.
‘If I were to liken him to anyone it would be a young Ashley Cole and it’s up to him how far he can now go in the game, ‘ Smith said. It feels so bad because it was not necessary. When we wet toe-to-toe it was an even game.
“We now gain two weeks’ treatment for 10 players who are not available and I hope that we do not lose more”.

“Fergie once said to me to actually sit down and not get involved so much in the game but that isn’t me, and as much as that was good advice and I thought about it, it isn’t natural for me”.
