During her acceptance speech, she opened up about her emotional journey since coming out as a transgender woman in April.
Before taking the stage, Caitlyn showed how grateful she was in a video collage, “I am so blessed I have family”. I sat down with each one of my 10 children, and I said, ‘This is my story.
As Jenner continued, she reminded everyone why she’s become an icon of courage-and, yes, glamour. “We are constantly learning and growing as human beings learning about ourselves, but there is a second part of this population when it comes to gender. There is massive confusion deep down inside”. “So few of us ever get to have that opportunity”. “So it’s always the little things in life that really you notice”, Jenner, formerly known as Bruce, said.
BRB, I want to go change the fucking world. She “had lost [her] enthusiasm for life” and locked herself up in her Malibu home unsure of what to do next, how to find happiness again.
“I had many, many, many years of isolation from the world, of lying to the world, of not being myself …”
For the past six years, life stood still for Caitlyn Jenner.
Caitlyn also noted that she finally for her driver’s license last week, with the picture and gender marker reading “F”.
The Oscar victor co-founded a production company, Pacific Standard, which aims to make films featuring strong female lead roles – “not the wife or the girlfriend, but the lead”, she said – as a way to fight the gender gap in Hollywood.
She explained with a straight face: “Although, Amy, I’m five years older than you, so I’ll probably have to play your grandmother in the movie, by Hollywood standards, and you’ll probably have to play your own mother”.
“What I have learned about this community is what a great group of women there are out there, who have worked so hard to be authentic to themselves and authentic to womenhood”, Jenner declared. “Having you present this to me tonight means so much to me and our community”, she told Light.
