Was John Kasich’s Fall Cemented in Milwaukee Debate?

So, perhaps not surprisingly, most Hispanics disagree with Trump and agree with Jeb Bush’s thoughts on immigration.

Marco Rubio was asked about a moment during a commercial break that viewers could not see.

Jeb Bush may not have had the best performance during Tuesday night’s primetime debate showing, but he avoided the distinction of the worst, with Ohio Governor John Kasich easily snagging that spot.

California businesswoman Carly Fiorina mentioned Clinton’s name seven times in her closing remarks alone.

The roughly two-hour debate at the Milwaukee Theatre highlighted a few key policy fault lines in the GOP field.

Kasich derided Trump’s plan to deport 11 million people in the USA illegally, calling the idea “not an adult argument”.

“The world is different from it was five years ago, not to mention 50 or 60 years ago”, said Rubio, who referred to Social Security, Medicare and tax and anti-poverty programs as from different eras. But I would like to hear specifics: How exactly do you do things better?

Trump also came under fire for his immigration plan, which envisions building a wall on the border with Mexico and round up and deport undocumented immigrants.

“We will have a wall”.

Bush tops the list of Republicans that voters would “definitely not support” for the GOP nomination at 25 percent, with Sen.

“Believe me when I tell you, Mr. Trump, that was brutal what they did to those people to kick them back”, O’Reilly said. Sanders and O’Malley have both said they support raising the federal minimum wage to $15; Clinton instead endorsed a proposal to raise the wage to $12.

In response to a question on increasing the retirement age, Cruz said, “Well my mom is here so I don’t think we should be pushing any grannies off cliffs”.

FBN moderator Neil Cavuto summed up the evening by taking a shot at rival CNBC when he said, while pointing towards the candidates, “Business debates can be riveting, because it wasn’t about us”. “Can you be conservative and be liberal on military spending?”

Rubio fired back: “I know that Rand is a committed isolationist. I would end those subsidies to pay for defending this nation”. “Try not defending it”. That failed utterly. On Tuesday night, more so than in the other debates, he was there as his father’s son, pushing policies that may keep him on the main stage for a while, if these issues connect, even if everyone knows he’s not going higher. Bush retorts about as immaturely-“I got about four minutes last debate I’m gonna get my question right now”-before immediately ceding the floor to Kasich to run into Bush’s time with a point about the value added tax”. Cruz said flatly that he would not, for example, give the Bank of America bailout money even if it were teetering on the brink. In 2008, Sen. John McCain, a leading proponent of an immigration compromise, won the state’s primary after trying to push his plan through the Senate. Bush asked. “One in 10 people aren’t working or have given up looking for work, one in seven people live in poverty, and one in five are on food stamps”. It is not a coronation (unlike the one Democrats have lined up for Hillary Clinton).

Arguably, the debate was more substantive than previous debates and that was partly due to the manner in which the moderators handled the questions to the candidates, but there were plenty of fireworks between the candidates. Yet moderators touched only lightly on that topic.
