Jaguars hang in before mistakes lead to 28-23 loss to Jets
Coach Todd Bowles says Folk is expected to be sidelined at least four weeks with a quadriceps injury. “That’s the biggest thing”. “Get in there and get back to work and hopefully, things go better”.

The Jets (5-3) certainly needed to hold their breath in this one.
NY Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick (14) passes against the… It was a win.
“I’d like to be up telling you we can learn lessons from wins”, Bradley said. Moreover, the report suggests that if Fitzpatrick does indeed get his thumb issue addressed Friday, it’s within the realm of possibility that the QB would still be able to play in the NY Jets ‘ Week 11 contest against the Texans. “Just where he is, as far as what we’re asking him to do on special teams”, said Bradley. “You look back at it, really, a lot of these were self-inflicted – the turnovers and the penalties at inopportune times”. “We did it to ourselves”.
A 45-yard field goal by kicker Jason Myers capped the Jaguars’ first drive and gave Jacksonville a 3-0 lead.
The Jets tallied six sacks on Blake Bortles.
Bowles said if Fitzpatrick doesn’t get the surgery, the injury could worsen. “Then, he comes up with a huge play at the end”. Brandon Marshall recovered it – his second huge play of the final quarter, coming not long after an acrobatic TD catch that was a dead ringer for a trap.
Fitzpatrick injured the thumb during the first series of last week’s 34-20 loss in Oakland and missed the remainder of the game, except for two plays after Geno Smith was hit in the abdomen and briefly had to leave. He wound up passing for 272 yards and two touchdowns in his first no-turnover game of the season.
Jets signal-caller Ryan Fitzpatrick isn’t what you would call a “franchise quarterback”. The alternative is to wait until after the season to have the surgery, but it gets more complicated as time goes on because the ligament can move and shrink.
One of those drives was the one on which Bortles fumbled and three others ended between the 50 and the Jets 40. He was injured during pregame warmups and replaced on kickoffs and field goals by punter Ryan Quigley, who made all four of his extra-point attempts. Folk will have an MRI on Monday.
NY extended their advantage when Fitzpatrick completed a series of throws to guide his team to the goalline where he handed the ball off to Chris Ivory, who ran over the left side of the line for the score. Center Nick Mangold (sore neck) also was forced to leave the game and starting right guard Willie Colon was inactive. Wesley Johnson, who started in Mangold’s place last weekend, replaced him again in the second quarter. There are several problematic areas – safeties Calvin Pryor and Dion Bailey (ankle) didn’t practice, nor did CB Antonio Cromartie (deep quad bruise). He was on a roll with five catches for 122 yards and a touchdown against the Jets, and he has a touchdown catch in six consecutive games.
McCoy has carried 16 times for 112 yards, including a 48-yard touchdown run.

One of the biggest offenders was Cromartie, who was beaten on back-to-back plays in the first half by Allen Hurns, first on a 20-yard catch, then a 30-yard touchdown.
