Eventually, after a Spurs-dominated 20 minutes, Gibbs came on as a substitute to equalise from a swinging cross delivered by Mesut Ozil.

The Frenchman appears to have an x-factor, and upon learning this stat, Arsenal fans will be eager to see the 31 year-old play week in, week out for the Gunners in the Premier League.

Loaned out for a majority of his Arsenal career, Campbell has made the most of the an ongoing injury crisis, starting back-to-back Premier League games for the first time as injuries have ravaged the side’s midfield. “You could see today how great it was to have Gibbs on the bench – he gave us a big lift we he came on, he was fresh and gave everyone a lift with the goal”.

But it was Eric Dier who had Spurs’ best chance before Kane’s opener, when he headed an Eriksen free-kick into the side netting unmarked at the far post.

Arsenal stayed on the same points as fellow league leaders Manchester City after the Citizens also dropped two points earlier on in the day against Aston Villa at Villa Park.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino, whose side moved up to fifth place, was proud of the visitors’ display. The team have shown great mental resource, we refused to give up.

“We look on a longer distance; in the last six games we’ve played five wins and one draw”.

“Was it a fair result?” “I can not stop him”, said Wenger, asked if he would try to prevent Laurent Koscielny, recently hampered with hamstring and hip problems, from joining up with the French national team. “There is room for improvement but we are in a good position and we want to continue that unbeaten streak”, he said. He was dizzy, he was only at 30 per cent and so I took him off at halftime.

Taking the lead play in the first half and continuing to stifle Arsenal in all but the aerial confrontations in the match, it looked like Spurs would be rewarded for their efforts.

Olivier Giroud couldn’t punish Spurs, missing several clear-cut chances, however he was unlucky to hit the crossbar on more than one occasion. “We now gain two weeks’ treatment for ten players who are not available, and I hope that we do not lose more”.

“But perhaps in a couple of days when the dust settles we’ll probably say it’s a good point”.
