“Unlike the AAP’s victory in Delhi, which was more a reflection of the electorate’s disillusionment with politicians in general, this defeat represents a much more direct and negative evaluation of the BJP’s performance over the a year ago”.
The oath taking ceremony of Grand Alliance’s chief ministerial candidate Nitish Kumar is expected to take place tentatively on November 20, three days after Bihar’s most important festival of “Chhath”. They point to the recent lynching of a Muslim man on rumors that he had slaughtered a cow, an animal considered sacred in the Hindu faith.
“The dictatorial tendencies within the BJP is something to be opposed and that opposition has come on a right occasion from the senior-most leader of the party and it is a welcome statement”, he said.
His partner Lalu Prasad, who embraced Nitish and addressed him as “present chief minister and continuing chief minister”, was more direct, frontal in his attack on the Modi government. That is the local leaders like Lalu Yadav and Nitish Kumar can still thrive on caste factor and good administration along with development issue respectively.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s inability to rein in loud mouths in the party and RSS and the national debate on intolerance has also been listed by Zee News as one of the factors for the BJP’s defeat.
“To say that everyone is responsible for the defeat in Bihar is to ensure that no one is held responsible”. The “outsider” campaign stuck, particularly as it was just Modi and Amit Shah whose hoardings were put up and only as an afterthought were other leaders given any space. He even said that Lalu-Nitish partnership will go a long way.
“We should be grateful to the people of Bihar because the direction has been halted”, he told NDTV news.
“For the opposition, this victory suggests that a coalition of parties is best way to compete against the ruling party, as no single party now has the heft to do so”, Manchanda said.
Mr. Sinha had through the course of the election continued to openly express support for Mr. Kumar. “All this resulted in our defeat”, he said.

The BJP needed a win in Bihar to boost PM Modi’s chances of building the parliamentary strength he needs to push through key reforms. India’s states are represented in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house, where the BJP lacks a majority. Obviously, all Party members are concerned with the results of the Assembly Elections in Bihar.
