This little panda taking his first steps is the flawless end to the week.
Under the watchful eye of Mother Panda Bear Mei Xiang, baby BeiBei took his first steps this week at Washington’s Smithsonian National Zoo.
The zoo says in a news release that the cub took his first steps Monday, but it may take a bit more time for Bei Bei to get the hang of walking.
After, mom scoops him up and seems to give him a congratulatory hug.
The zoo said the cub will probably start wandering about, leaving the den on his own to explore his indoor enclosure.

Bei Bei – which means “precious treasure” – was born with twin on August 22, but the second cub died just four days after the birth.
