Although Ferguson is on injured reserve, the second-year pro’s suspension will begin immediately and not carry over to next season.

Chicago Bears defensive end Ego Ferguson has been suspended four games without pay for violating the NFL’s policy on performance enhancing substances, the league announced. As a result, Ferguson will be stripped of four game checks, according to WGN Radio’s Adam Hoge.

There has been no statement from Ferguson nor has there been any indication as to what type of banned substance Ferguson may have taken. He’s the third Bears player this week to receive a suspension.

Offensive tackle Tayo Fabuluje was suspended four games for violating the same policy.

The league suspended Bears practice squad receiver Jalen Saunders for an unspecified policy violation on Tuesday as well.

Ferguson is on injured reserve, so he wouldn’t have played the next four games anyway.
