Big White first ski hill to open in BC
With snowmaking and grooming active on the mountain, Breckenridge Ski Resort is gearing up for opening day on Friday, November 13.

One day of skiing may be more than a few California resorts had all of last season. All together there’s 87 centimetres of snow at the resort.
The ski hill in the Monashee Mountains near Kelowna has announced it will be making its earliest opening in 14 years – two weeks earlier than scheduled – thanks to a recent big dump of snow.
The trail, known as the “Cruiser” trail, is covered in anywhere from 8 to 12 inches of snow for its entire run and is geared toward people of different skill levels.
After another 30 centimetres of fresh powder over the weekend, Big White Ski Resort will open early for the 2015/2016 ski season.
Unfortunately, warm temps and rain have slowed down and even closed ski areas that had already started spinning the lifts, including Killington, where, on a positive note, the first World Cup on the East Coast since 1991 will be held Thanksgiving weekend 2016 at The Beast.
Open runs will include Highway 33, Serwa’s, Easy Out, Easy Street and Hummingbird. Skiers and snowboarders visiting the resort will be able to purchase lift tickets at 50 per cent off their regular retail price until the resort opens more chairlifts and terrain. The welcome moisture will not end the state’s four-year drought, but forecasters expect a strong El Nino winter to bring above-average precipitation to parts of the state, according to the AP report.
Many sporting good websites are offering sales along with the snow.
