Subway Jared Might Receive a 12 1/2 Yearlong Jail Sentence

Federal prosecutors recommended on Thursday that former Subway sandwich spokesman Jared Fogle spend 12 and a half years in prison and be under lifetime supervision for child pornography and having sex with two minors.

Court documents state, “The federal investigation of Taylor and Fogle in IN arose from this discovery, not information from persons in other states that was only received in IN after Taylor’s residential search in April 2015”. Fogle could have stopped Taylor from victimizing a few of minors, prosecutors have said, but they say he instead encouraged Taylor to produce additional child pornography.

The Associated Press reports that on Thursday (Nov. 12), the prosecutors and defense attorneys in Fogle’s case submitted their sentencing requests. Last month, he paid $1 million in restitution to 10 victims. It says those payments attest “both the genuine compunction he feels and his commitment” to help his casualties “move forward” with their lives.

Federal prosecutors want former Subway spokesman Jared Fogle to be locked up for the maximum amount of time possible.

The girl, now 16, appeared on the syndicated Dr. Phil Show.

Prosecutors have said Taylor secretly filmed minors and passed a few photographs and videos of minors onto Fogle. The girl said she was among three youths who drank alcoholic beverages at Taylor’s house and became intoxicated. Fogle’s attorneys are asking for a five-year term, but the prosecuting team requested a prison term of 12 1/2 years. That’s $100,000 for each of 14 victims. She described being secretly recorded at age 14 by Russell Taylor, who ran a nonprofit Fogle started to raise awareness and money to fight childhood obesity.

Horty said he couldn’t release the girl’s name. Since Fogle made a plea agreement, prosecutors asked Judge Tanya Walton Pratt to sentence Fogle to a little over 12 years, the maximum sentence of the 5 to 12 1/2 year sentence that a plea arrangement carries.
