‘No foul play’ in MP college dean’s death, says Bassi

Though the post-mortem on Sharma’s body was conducted by a three-member expert panel at Safdarjung hospital on Monday, its final report is yet to come. Reportedly, whiskey and some medicines were found near Dr Sharma’s bed. The admissions on the medical seats in college were done through MPPEB (MP Professional Examination Board ), also called Vyapam, in which some fake candidates were suspected, said a source.

Statements of over half-a-dozen persons, including those who saw him or interacted with him during his stay in New Delhi, have also been recorded, said the officer. Pathak said that police will collect all scientific evidences and leave no stone unturned to detect the cause of death.

The sudden death of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Medical Colleges Dean Arun Sharma at a Delhi hotel today sent a shock wave among his kin and the entire medical fraternity of this cantonment town. While the journalist was cremated at Nigambodh Ghat in Delhi in the afternoon, with Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal in attendance, Delhi Police sleuths were trying to unravel the mystery behind Sharma’s death. He was connected with the investigation into the Madhya Pradesh Vyavsayik Pareeksha Mandal (Vyapam) scam. Dr Sharma was going to Tripura to inspect in Agartala Medical College on behalf of the Medical Council of India and he was about to catch a flight this morning.

He said that police was in touch with Sharma’s family as well for background check to make sure that there were no shortcomings in the investigation.

The police quoted the deceased’s son as saying that his father was suffering from diabetes and hypertension. In another tweet, he said, “Incidentally Dr Sakalle, earlier Dean of Medical College Jabalpur, was found dead burnt in his residence lawns at 730 am 2 years back (sic)”.

“No government said it was suicide”, Singh further said. The MP government too is writing to the High Court-constituted SIT probing the Vyapam recruitment scam to thoroughly investigate the death of Akshay Singh. Since then two more accused had died under mysterious circumstances.
