Female Link, Linkle, confirmed for Hyrule Warriors Legends
The new character should not be viewed as a female version of Link, however, since her backstory is different, and her fighting style along with her weapons of choice are all different. She’ll kick an enemy when they’re down without losing grip on her crossbows.

Linkle’s existence was confirmed during the latest Nintendo Direct, along with a release date: March 25, 2016 in North America and Europe. However, Linkle differs from Link in her fighting style, as she dual wields crossbows in place of wielding the Master Sword.
Nintendo is now getting set to release an updated version of the game, called Hyrule Warriors Legends in English-speaking territories, for the company’s 3DS handheld system. It looks pretty cool, and we should also remind you that the new content in the 3DS game will be available in the Wii U original too – that’s something to be excited about.
What are your thoughts on the addition of Linkle to the Hyrule Warriors Legends roster of playable characters?
