PM Nawaz, Tajik President discuss bilateral ties in Murree

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon addressed a press stakeout following their delegation level talks at the PM House.

The Prime minister said both sides expressed satisfaction at the excellent co-operation between the two countries at different multilateral forums, especially the United Nations, OIC, ECO and SCO. “This is so essential for socio-economic development of our peoples”.

The Prime Minister further stated the two countries consider extremism and terrorism as common threats and Pakistan’s sacrifices and successes in eliminating these scourges were appreciated by the worldwide community. They termed the visit “productive” and “fruitful”, and said it helped further expand their multifaceted relationship. They exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual concern.

A contingent of tri-services guard presented guard of honour to the visiting dignitary who also reviewed the parade.

Pakistan, the premier said, attached great importance to security cooperation with Tajikistan.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Tajikistan on Thursday signed a number of agreements aimed at broadening bilateral cooperation in the areas of trade, energy and connectivity. The Tajik President is accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising Ministers and other senior officials. They exchanged views to increase contacts on people to people basis between the two countries and exchange of delegations.

PM Nawaz said relations with Central Asia were based on cultural and religious affinity dating back centuries. The two leaders also held one on one meeting.

Aslov said that Tajikistan is reforming its laws to provide adequate safeguards to foreign investments and remove administrative barriers in the smooth in-flow of investments. Meanwhile, in a meeting, President Mamnoon Hussain and President Emomali Rahmon agreed that bilateral cooperation between the two brotherly countries in trade, energy, regional connectivity, infrastructure development, security and defence sectors would pave the way for welfare and progress of the people of two countries. “Tajikistan is the gateway to these countries for access to our all-weather sea-ports”, Sharif said and added “Our shared vision of forging mutually beneficial strategic partnership derives its sustenance from these natural advantages”.

He said work on CASA-1000 would begin by the mid of next year.

Pakistan-Tajikistan agreed for bilateral cooperation
