For those that may not be aware, Night Dive Studios has a god send to fans of classic PC gaming the world over.

They’re working to remake the first System Shock. But remarkably, it’s been picked up by dedicated archivists Night Dive Studios, who are now developing a proper remake.

Night Dive Studios, the studio behind the recent System Shock: Enhanced Edition re-release, purchase older (retro) game licenses, give them a new coat of paint and re-release them to modern platforms.

In a new interview, the company responsible for reviving and bringing back a plethora of classics into the digital age has revealed that it has held a few discussions about the possibility of making a third System Shock game.

And now with the rights to the franchise in its possession, Night Dive is working on a full remake of the original System Shock (1994).

As for System Shock 3, Night Dive would need a bigger publisher to get involved. In an ancient interview from before the release of Bioshock, Irrational Games’ Ken Levine stated, ” BioShock has absolutely no relation to the System Shock series in terms of the intellectual property, characters, settings etc. However, it is inspired by the open-ended design principles pioneered by Looking Glass. “To really do another game in that series is going to take resources and time and commitment that we don’t have, and it’s really not our core business”.
