Lois Colley, 83, lived in North Salem, New York, with her husband Eugene Colley, the millionaire owner of more than 100 McDonald’s franchises.
Police say Colley died of blunt force trauma to the head.
A caretaker at the 300-acre manor found Colley’s body in the laundry room.
There were no signs that anyone had forced their way into the home.
Colley’s sons and grandsons carried her casket into the church shortly after 11 a.m. Following the service, she was expected to be buried at June Cemetery, just down the street from the church. An investigator on Wednesday told news sources that a link was unlikely. In the hours after the gruesome discovery, police scoured the woods near the farm, searching for the possible murder weapon, believed to be a small fire extinguisher.
