In a news conference Wednesday, NTSB said they would consider carefully all factors of the scene, including maintenance of plane, weather conditions, the plane’s engine and air traffic control.
Pebb Enterprises, based in Boca Raton, said on its website that two executives and five employees died Tuesday afternoon when the plane crashed and burst into flames. She said her sister was traveling with company executives and they were searching for real estate development sites to purchase.
A pilot who was killed in a crash while flying seven Boca Raton colleagues to OH on a business trip has been identified by family members as Andres Chavez. She said a representative from Pebb Enterprises notified Smoot’s son of her death.
The chartered plane left Fort Lauderdale on Monday and stopped in St. Paul, Minnesota; Moline, IL; and St. Louis before arriving in Cincinnati, according to the flight-tracking website FlightAware.
The plane in question flew from the Dayton-Wright Brothers airport, Miamisburg, Ohio, at about 2:13 p.m. and was headed to the Akron Fulton Airport.
The plane clipped a telephone wire, hit an apartment building on Mogadore Road at Skelton Road, then crashed into an embankment behind that building. Fortunately, no one was around the building when the plane crashed, resulting to zero casualties or injuries on the ground, in spite of the very devastating crash and enormous fire that happened shortly after.
It crashed Tuesday afternoon in Akron as it approached the small airport where it was to land.
The cockpit voice recorder from the aircraft was sent November 11 to a lab for analysis, and investigators were expected to begin recovering parts of the plane on November 12, said Bella Dinh-Zarr, vice chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board.
The cause of the crash was not immediately clear.
“I think the world is not going to be quite as good a place without him”, he said.
Officials at the crash site have been helped by a forensics team from Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pennsylvania, that specializes in recovering human remains at crime scenes and crash sites.
The intelligent, driven man took to the development industry immediately, quickly rising in the company and making his mark on the industry, said Bob Basehart, Wellington’s Planning and Zoning and Building Director who used to work as a private consultant for PEBB.
Witnesses reported hearing explosions when the plane hit.
“I heard a big bang, and my couch shook twice”, said Carrie Willis, who lives several blocks away.
