On Thursday, Anaheim coach Bruce “Gabby” Boudreau told the Ducks website team that he was satisfied with the way Getzlaf and Perry worked their power play together. “Just try to be open and create chances”.

Perry, who failed to score in the season’s first 11 games, has four goals in his past five games. Andersen made 23 saves but was outdone by Oilers goalie Anders Nilsson, who was often steller in making 34 saves.

“I was just excited”, he said.

The 37-year-old Horcoff scored his 500th career point off a behind-the-net pass from Cam Fowler early in the third.

Rakell got two assists and had a lot of energy. Oilers defenseman Oscar Klefbom responded with a slap shot from the blue line to tie the score at 5:38.

Perry has done his part with four goals and three assists over the last five games after getting just three assists through the first 11.

“It’s exciting and a huge accomplishment, especially in the best league in the world”, Perry said. 6, Edmonton, Nugent-Hopkins 6 (Draisaitl, Hall), 8:19. The Ducks kept taking lead after lead after lead, but the Oilers continued to battle back, tying it 3-3 on Ryan Nugent-Hopkins sixth goal of the season about mid-way through the final frame.

No one questions that the three-on-three play for overtime has increased fan interest and reduced shootouts, but it also has a few wrinkles that belie basic tenets of hockey, such as being responsible in your own zone.

In the first period, Perry tried a behind-the-back pass into the crease area and got a good bounce as the puck banked off the skate of Oilers rookie Darnell Nurse and over the goal line. With six seconds left on a power play, Draisaitl received left winger Benoit Pouliot’s pass from the left-wing boards and one-timed a shot from the right circle over Andersen’s left leg pad.

Marc-Andre Fleury stopped Alex Galchenyuk and David Desharnais in the tiebreaker after the Penguins pulled even at 3 on Patric Hornqvist’s goal with 6:25 remaining in the third period.

It is likely NY will throw a tough challenge for the Anaheim Ducks this evening at Honda Center as the favorite to win the game.
