A Greenville native who was performing at a music venue in central Paris where terrorist gunmen opened fire, killing dozens of people and taking as many as 100 others hostage is safe, according to news reports and social media. Fifteen hundred people, Julian said, was about the capacity of the venue. “We were home thank God but this is just a nightmare”, she said.
The group’s D.J.-based mostly publicist, Jennifer Ballantyne of Universal Music Enterprises, advised Reuters by e-mail that Homme was not in Paris with the band on Friday.
The Washington Post reported that it had spoken with the mother of the band’s drummer, who reportedly said that the band was safe. I just spoke with Eden.
A post by the band says that they are still trying to determine if all members of the band and crew are safe.
The bloodshed comes about a month after the release of EODM’s fourth album, “Unzipped”, which was followed by the group’s appearance and performance on the late-night ABC television show “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”
The band, formed in 1998 in Palm Desert, California, was celebrating the October release of “Zipper Down” with a European tour.
“He couldn’t stand violence at a concert, he would personally get involved in fights – not to get them, but to separate them and try to get everybody happy again”, King said of Hughes.
Homme also founded the band Queens of the Stone Age.
