Mobile Mobile Without Borders allows usage in Canada and Mexico with no

In an Uncarrier Amped move dubbed ‘Mobile without Borders’, T-Mobile announced that it will offer its American customers free telephone call roaming to and from Mexico and Canada. The 2.1 million new customers include more than 1 million branded postpaid net customer additions and bring the company’s total customer base to 58.9 million. T-Mobile’s first “amped” announcement involved changes to its Jump-branded device-upgrade program. The data used by customers in Canada and Mexico will come out of the same bucket that their domestic data use comes out of. T-Mobile partnered with two carriers in Mexico and six carriers in Canada for full roaming coverage. It doesn’t matter whether you’re calling Mexico City from Toronto or Tallahassee-it’s now all part of your plan.

T-Mobile’s quarterly results show the carrier continues to enjoy noteworthy success in the wireless industry-T-Mobile said the period was its ninth consecutive quarter with over 1 million net new customer additions.

A spokesman declined to comment on the financial terms with the foreign carriers. Mobile Without Borders business plans are also available. The nation’s second-largest wireless carrier acquired Mexican carrier Iusacell for .5 billion and Nextel Mexico for .875 billion, and envisions a single seamless network running throughout the two countries.

Additionally, calls to and from Mexico or Canada are included in Simple Choice plans. He’s been working hard to attract new customers to T-Mobile’s network with cut-rate deals. It also announced a limited-time offer in which customers can buy an iPhone 6 for $15 a month, when they trade in their current smartphone.

For some existing T-Mobile customers, there are a few wrinkles. If they don’t want to switch, they can add the feature to their account for $10 a month.

T-Mobile says its new plans are significantly more attractive than options from the other major carriers, which charge high fees for using calling and data services in Mexico and Canada.
