Reprising a line that has become a crowd favorite, Clinton said that Obama hasn’t received the “credit he deserves” for helping the nation emerge from a deep recession – and made a passing reference to the economic mantra of her husband, former President Bill Clinton, whose come-from-behind second place finish in New Hampshire propelled his candidacy in 1992.

Clinton’s plan would seek fundamental changes to veterans’ health care “to ensure veterans’ access to timely and high quality health care and block efforts to privatize” the Veterans Health Administration, her campaign said in an outline of the plan.

“This election is about the future”, the 44-year-old Rubio said, setting up the conceit that his youth would make him the best possible candidate to take on the 68-year-old Clinton – a generational match-up that worries many Democrats. “Bernie Sanders – but did sharpen the contrast with her stoutest opponent by repeatedly emphasizing the fact she is a longtime Democrat”.

“On her worst day, Hillary Clinton will be an infinitely better candidate and president than the Republican candidate on his best day”, Sanders said Sunday on ABC. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).

Paradoxically, a few New Democrats may even relish a Sanders resurgence, pointing to the similar experience of Ed Miliband and Jeremy Corbyn in the British Labour party, which they claim will ultimately prove the folly of pandering to the left. On Saturday in Columbia, Sanders rolled out 20 endorsements from state leaders, including African-Americans such as Rep. Terry Alexander of Florence, Sumter County Council member Eugene R. Baten and Omari Fox, a Black Lives Matter leader.

“Sanders has been trying to make inroads with core Democratic constituencies, including black voters”, said Monmouth pollster Patrick Murray. “I believe coming from a rural state that I can bring together the 60 percent or 70 percent of the American people who are sick and exhausted of seeing these horrific massacres that appear nearly every couple of weeks”.

The Sanders campaign did not respond to a request for comment.

His campaign, meanwhile, attacked Clinton for choosing not to attend the event where he spoke, Fair Immigration Reform Movement Presidential Forum, which Sanders is addressing on Monday.
