Clemson leads first College Football Playoff rankings

Being undefeated doesn’t guarantee you a spot in the top four of the College Football Playoff, as Alabama at 7-1 joins undefeated Clemson (No. 1), LSU (No. 2) and defending champion Ohio State (No. 3) atop the season’s first rankings. Enjoy the journey, Clemson football fans, it’s going to be a heck of a ride. “You’ve been tested against very good football teams, three of them undefeated and one being USC”. Also, Notre Dame is higher ranked than any team from either of those leagues. At 11-1 with no conference championship, Alabama likely will get jumped by whichever teams do claim conference championships, including whichever team wins the SEC.

So everyone making a kerfuffle about Alabama being in the top four or Florida being too low or Ohio State being too high – let’s slow down a little bit and realize that there’s still a month of the season left to be played. Which team – or teams – will be representing the conference remains to be seen. The Spartans have a showdown on November 21 against third-ranked Ohio State.

Of course, maybe Alabama gets blown out by LSU and then they would just have to figure out how to get a two-loss Alabama into the playoff.

They looked as if they logged a huge nonconference victory against OR, but the Ducks have turned out to be in a down year.

However, Odd Shark is backing Nick Saban team, which is allowing 16.4 points per game, as the 6.5-point favourite over LSU this weekend.
