Oscar Pistorius reported on Saturday for his first day of community service in the South African capital Pretoria as part of his parole conditions after being released from jail three weeks ago.

The Paralympic gold medallist was freed on parole less than a year into a five-year sentence for the “culpable homicide” of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, who he killed on Valentine’s Day in 2013.
In a video clip published by South African media, a woman says “Hi Oscar, how are you?” as Pistorius walks past a small group of journalists and into the station. Pistorius does not reply.
However, the authorities would allow him to leave the house for specific reasons, such as going to church or performing community service.
The athlete was serving the remainder of his five year sentence under correctional supervision after he was released from jail last month.
Looking thin and pale, Pistorius arrived in a white T-shirt and baggy khaki pants, and had a backpack on.
The sprinter appeared in a “selfie” with South Africa rugby player Brett Sharman, apparently during a recent event where Pistorius is under house arrest.
The 28-year old was acquitted of a murder charge past year.

If the council overturns the earlier decision and convict Pistorius of murder, he would have to go back to prison and serve at least 15 years behind bars. At the appeal Pistorius’ lawyer was grilled by a panel of judges over the Olympic athlete’s actions on the night he shot Steenkamp.
