First Democratic Debate: Sanders v. Clinton

In the poll, Clinton polled at 33 percent, with then-Sen.Hillary Clinton has been enjoying a star-filled week at celebrity fundraisers and the Democratic frontrunner topped it all off on Thursday night in the heart of Hollywood with a visit to Jimmy Kimmel.

Clinton now leads Sanders by almost 50 points, 69 percent to 21 percent, in the first in the southern primary state, according to a Monmouth poll released Tuesday. Still he felt like the warm up act before the main show, with his campaign remaining in serious trouble.

Any suggestion that her husband is sexist “is completely ludicrous, as every woman who’s ever worked for him and known him knows, ” Jane O’Meara Sanders said. “So I said no to the Keystone on day one”. “They say wonderful things about me”, Clinton said.

“He’s a Muslim. He’s a black Muslim”, the man said, to which Fiorina responded, “Well, time to do something different in many ways”. “I don’t think we can keep him away”. She said within the first 30 days of taking office she would convene the defense secretary and VA secretary for regular meetings and there would be “zero tolerance” for abuses and delays within the system.

Sanders also said he was opposed to President Obama’s recent decision to deploy special operation forces to Syria to help battle ISIS.

Sanders’ campaign is trying to close the gap.

Hillary Clinton did have to dodge a bunch of questions.

Hillary Clinton had a case to make to black voters in SC this weekend: President Barack Obama brought the country back from the brink of economic depression but I want to make sure everyone gets a piece of the recovery. Three-in-four say she would do an excellent (31%) or good (43%) job at this compared to just over half – 16% excellent and 36% good – who say the same of Sanders. Bernie Sanders had pulled ahead in public polling. To which Clinton averred she has maintained consistency and that her positions may change only because she absorbs new information.

Saying they have to stop it is no more convincing than when she said she told Wall Street to cut it out in the first debate.

She described herself as a “proud Democrat” who would protect Obama’s agenda and prevent Republicans from dismantling his signature health care law and guard against tax breaks that would benefit the wealthy.

But for the next hour, while peppered with questions from prospective voters, Clinton outlined the way she would go further than the president on the economy and growth for African-Americans. Clinton ignored the examples cited by Maddow, and her long hawkish history, claiming she preferred diplomacy, despite her record, including Libya, Syria, and Iraq. Clinton thanked Sanders and continued to laugh. Larry David was again fantastic with his impersonation of Bernie Sanders. Maddow asked which of the Republican candidates she would chose as her running mate if they were her only choices, and who could blame Clinton for rejecting them all?
