He met Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull – a former leader of the Australian Republican Movement – in Canberra on Wednesday.

Later, Charles and Camilla said goodbye to Australia by going on a walkabout in Perth’s Kings Park. Despite his opinions, the way the constitution stands today, Prince Charles will succeed his mother Queen Elizabeth when her reign comes to an end becoming Australia’s next head of state.

The six-year-old was one of many children at the event who shares their birthday with Prince Charles.

“Not really. I’m a democratic person, you know”.

But a new poll conducted for the Australian Republican Movement (ARM) has suggested that support for change is growing, with 51 per cent saying they would prefer an Australian head of state to a King Charles, according to The Sydney Morning Herald. “As if I would touch his bottom.it is just ridiculous”.

But the rise of Mr Turnbull appears to have invigorated the nation’s republicans.

“During committee hearings, the assembled security bureaucrats from agencies like the Department of Immigration made the staggering admission that they hadn’t bothered speaking to any other countries, and particularly not Australia’s allies, about how they felt about Australia dumping its terrorists on them”.

The prince and prime minister were joined by their aides for the meeting that lasted around 30 minutes.

Restauranteurs Christina Harding and her daughter Tania, who starred on Nine’s The Hot Plate alongside Camilla’s son Tom Parker Bowles, were the life of the party.

Braving heavy rain Camilla and the Australian prime minister’s wife Lucy Turnbull were also treated to a truffle hunting demonstration.

Sylvia and Ian Brandenburg missed out on seeing Charles and Camilla in their hometown of Albany on Saturday because they were in Perth, so they were looking forward to spotting them at the cathedral. His first was nearly 50 years ago, when he spent two terms at a Victorian school. “I’d quite like a few for my dinner”, she said. Mass immigration, especially from Asia, means a smaller proportion of Australians now have direct ties to Britain.

The British Museum is sending 150 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander objects to Canberra for an exhibition which opens later this month.

It later emerged the bikini girl and the kiss were arranged by palace staff who were anxious to improve the image of the stuffy prince.
