At 18:25 of the first period in Montreal on Saturday night, the Canadiens won a faceoff in the defensive zone, but they couldn’t control the puck.
Bruins 3, Red Wings 1: BOSTON – Patrice Bergeron scored the first of Boston’s three second-period goals. That top line’s had a lot of success lately and we’ve got to know when we’re on the ice against them. The two goals gave MacKinnon eight points in his last six games.
Blue Jackets 5, Coyotes 2: COLUMBUS, OH – William Karlsson scored his first two goals of the season, and Columbus improved to 1-6 at home.
Even though those two goals were quick, he still fell four seconds short of the team record for consecutive goals which belongs to Jon Klemm who scored a pair of goals just nine seconds apart in 1997.
Montreal tested Reto Berra 40 times.
Grigorenko, with his first for the Avalanche, was left alone in front to take a pass from Duchene and score only 3:26 into the game. With Andrei Markov closing in, MacKinnon flipped a backhand shot … high, glove side, beating Condon for the second time in 13 seconds. Tokarski stopped Mackinnon’s shot from the top of the right circle, but an unattended Duchene was there waiting to the goalie’s left and roofed it for his team-leading eighth of the season.
Landeskog will also sit out in Toronto.
With Alexei Emelin out with a lower body injury, Greg Pateryn saw his first action of the season for Montreal.
Alexander Semin makes his return to the Habs lineup tonight after being a healthy scratch for the last seven games.

As in other National Hockey League rinks, a minute’s silence was held before the game and the crowd gave a rousing ovation for the La Marseillaise in support of victims of attacks Friday in Paris.
