Union Square is one of the city’s most popular tourist attractions with several high-end shops as well as its Union Square Park and skating rink.
Eyewitnesses reported that the bus came speeding across two city blocks at a high speed. It struck several moving vehicles in its path as well as the bicyclist and the two pedestrians, the latter ending up trapped underneath the vehicle after it plowed into the scaffolding.
According to police reports, several power lines were also knocked down, which are used for the city’s electrical buses.
Four people remain in critical condition a day after a double-decker tour bus crashed in a crowded and popular San Francisco neighborhood.
Talmadge said the cause of the crash was not immediately known and police would investigate the incident.
“I couldn’t tell who was a tourist and who was an accident person”, he said.
She saw paramedics sprinting toward the injured while emergency vehicles pulled up with their sirens blaring.
San Francisco fire chief now says 20 people were injured, 5 of them critically.
The San Francisco Fire Department released a picture of the tourbus wreckage on November 13, 2015.
The license for the company that operates the bus, City Sightseeing, was revoked in 2013, according to the Chronicle. Wrecked cars were scattered up and down the road. The crash happened Friday afternoon at Post and Stockton streets where a new Apple store is being built. He added that he and others tried to put up a perimeter to keep tourists and others away from the live electrical lines until authorities arrived. Officials say a few victims were treated at the scene but others, including the driver and the bicyclist, were taken to the hospital. The hospital has said very little about the nature of their injuries, but a source inside San Francisco general filled us in on a few of the details.

Firefighters had to extricate the two people under the bus as well as one trapped on the top deck, Hayes-White said.
