BELEK- The Brics group of emerging nations called on the Group of 20 (G-20) top developed and developing nations on Sunday to strengthen their macroeconomic policy cooperation to prevent bad effects from a weak global economy and reduce risks to growth. “The need for a united global effort to fight terrorism had never been more urgent”.

“India attaches the highest importance to BRICS”.

BRICS is an acronym for Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, a group of developing or newly-industrialized countries formed in 2009.

Projecting India as a pillar of global economic stability, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said bold reforms has helped the country to clock 7.5 per cent growth that will improve further in coming years.

“The New Development Bank, the Currency Reserve Arrangement, Strategy for BRICS Economic Cooperation – these are clear evidence of our vision and our resolve. Together, we can also give shape to G20”, he said.

In addition, the other BRICS leaders voiced support for China in holding the rotating G20 presidency in 2016. “We assure China our full support”, Modi added. “India’s development goals are aligned with the SDGs”, he added.

In the worst ever terror attacks by ISIS in Paris on November 13, at least 129 people were killed and 352 injured, many in critical condition.

Russian President Putin also called for united efforts to fight the growing menace of terrorism.

In his intervention at G20 Working Lunch on Development and Climate Change, PM Modi said India has the world’s largest financial inclusion programme and has “definite target dates” for meeting people’s all basic needs.
