First impressions: The iPad Pro is ‘wicked fast’

I had read a late-night press release that the iPad Pro, the first of a new line of oversized tablets from the Cupertino-based giant, was going to be released that very next day, and like the proverbial moth to a flame, there I now stood. Combined with the iPad Pro, they form a task-tackling trifecta.

Apple has put its big guns to use with iPad Pro.

The recently unveiled member of the iPad family has been spotted on benchmark test. This newest device made by Apple outperforms the MacBook, MacBook Pro and the Microsoft’s much owned Surface Pro.

Even worse is how long you’ll need to wait if you order an Apple Pencil stylus or the Smart Keyboard accessory. On the other hand, not all of those apps are designed with touch controls in mind, something that’s fundamental to tablets.

Moreover, it has an unbelievable 2732×2048-pixel resolution and a powerful A9X chip.

This makes investing in Apple quite hard, especially when you consider a cross-section of recent Seeking Alpha analysis. However, the company acknowledges that it has to convince enterprises that the iPad Pro can bridge the gap between how employees use computers and what’s possible on tablets. But it’s also too underdeveloped and unsatisfying to replace a traditional laptop. Its gigantic screen looks brilliant and immersive when you’re using apps that have been updated for it, it has excellent speakers and it’s light for its (enormous) size.

I’ve had the chance to spend a few time with the iPad Pro and I find it easy to conclude that it’s an excellent tablet.

You can edit two streams of 4K video at the same time, for example, and the whole feel of the device is fast and snappy. The result of that move is the 12.9-in. iPad Pro, which starts at $799 for a 32GB model and goes all the way to $1,079 for a 128GB version with both Wi-Fi and LTE cellular connectivity – accessories not included. That would be about 840,000 $800 iPad Pros, which sort of makes the 2.5M unit target set by analysts an excellent milestone to reach.

On the hardware side of the equation, a lot is riding on the new Smart Keyboard and Apple Pencil, and how well these two add-ons work in extending the tablet’s use potential.

With such a large screen, the iPad Pro seems to be obviously gunning for another market – laptops. IN terms of price, the iPad Air 3 will be cheaper than the larger 12.9inch iPad Pro.

An iPad Pro has the potential to act more like a social device, where people can gather to collaborate on projects. Surface Book isn’t a laptop replacement device, being primarily a laptop itself, but it has enough unique features that it’s worth mentioning to users interested in laptop and tablet hybrid products.
