This is where the 2014-2016 theme for World Diabetes Day came about – “Healthy Living and Diabetes” and the prevention of diabetes. And while blood sugar levels are higher than normal, they have not yet reached Type 2 diabetes levels. In an effort to shine the spotlight on the disease, the universal Blue Circle symbol is often front-and-center during the occasion. “Many people with diabetes and prediabetes think that if they ignore it then it will go away but that is not true” said Susan Dade, RD, LD, CDE, incoming chair of the NMDAC and diabetic educator at Artesia General Hospital.
“We shouldn’t underestimate the seriousness of what that means because it doesn’t matter whether you have type 1 or type 2 diabetes, the complications are unfortunately the same if it’s not identified early and not managed properly”.
“The goal of Parkland’s Global Diabetes Program is to provide the most effective model of healthcare delivery for people living with diabetes in Dallas County”, Meneghini said.
If you experience one or more of the following signs, you might be suffering from diabetes.
There are two main forms of the disease. Every year around 1.5 million people die from the debilitating condition that produces long-term high blood sugar levels.
World Diabetes Day is today being celebrated. For making the step successful, World Health Organization helps countries put in place policies to minimize the impact of NCDs, which include diabetes, cancers, and cardiovascular and lung diseases.

“This transition is contributing to the increasing burdens of not only Type 2 diabetes but other non-communicabe diseases”, she said.
