Ronda Rousey Breaks Her Silence After Shock UFC193 Defeat

Holm now takes over as the female bantamweight champion and she is the second holder of the title after Rousey. A boxing and kickboxing champion, Holm used her speed and footwork to keep away from Rousey, an Olympic judoka, known for her takedowns and arm bar hold that usually ends fights with Rousey knocking out her opponents.

In the five minutes of the first half, the crowd and the whole world witnessed Rousey lose the first round of her career. She got knocked out by Holly Holm with a kick to the head, and the memes, gloating in her downfall, couldn’t stop coming.

Holm followed up with a few strikes before the referee stopped the fight, with Rousey looking considerably the worse for wear.

Rousey, a former judo Olympian, was unbeaten through 12 UFC fights before her head-to-head battle against Holm.

“I just wanted to thank everyone for the love and support”, Rousey said in a statement posted on Instagram. The win is being described as the biggest upset in the promotion’s history.

It appeared Rousey was close to unconsciousness as she dropped.

Rousey was hospitalised after the fight in accordance with UFC rules.

Holm’s coach, Mike Winkeljohn, says Rousey didn’t necessarily err by rushing his charge in their UFC world title fight, but was simply beaten by an intellectually superior fighter in Melbourne.

“I don’t think you can prepare yourself if you’re not aware of what can happen”.

“A rematch makes a lot of sense”, White said.

Make no mistake, Ronda will be back with a vengeance and she would see to it that, this time around her predictions don’t come to fruition.

“I’m voting for Bernie Sanders, because he doesn’t take any corporate money”, Rousey said.
