David Cameron: Paris-style attacks ‘could happen here’
Mr Cameron offered Mr Putin his condolences for the 224 deaths on board the Metrojet flight from Sharm el-Sheikh and told him: “We are meeting together after the appalling terrorist attacks in France, and it is clear to me that we must work together to defeat this scourge of terrorism that is a threat to Britain, a threat to Russian Federation and a threat to us all”.

The Prime Minister said the plots were on a smaller scale to Paris but added the attacks in the French capital were “the sort of thing we were warned about”.
He said Britain faced a “generational struggle” against IS which he said meant to “destroy us and our values”, following attacks by militants in Paris that left 129 people dead.
Mr Cameron has announced the Government will intensify the fight by recruiting 1,900 intelligence staff.
David Cameron says British security services have prevented seven terrorist attacks in the last six months, as he warned a Paris-style attack “could happen here”.
The United Kingdom government will boost the amount it invests in intelligence and double spending in aviation security amid the increasing threat of Isis attacks.
Speaking to BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, the prime minister said the attackers clearly wanted to “try and kill as many people as possible” in Paris. “We can strengthen our security, we can take action on making aviation safer”.
He said: “Isil don’t recognise a border between Iraq and Syria and neither should we”. We do need to take parliament and the people with us.
Mr Cameron’s talks with Mr Putin will be followed by a meeting of the Quint – an informal group of Western powers within the G20, made up of the United Kingdom, US, France, Germany and Italy – to assess progress and discuss how further efforts on Syria can be co-ordinated.
However, he repeated that any settlement must include the removal of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, a sticking point between the West and Russian Federation.

The Prime Minister stated that the British public must show “resolve” to “carry on with our lives” as a response to the threat from Islamic State militants in the UK.
