In their quest to round up the terrorists involved in the deadly terrorist attacks in Paris on November 13, the French police seized several weapons and made many arrests.

Earlier, the French Police launched a manhunt of a French national Salah Abdeslam, who is allegedly one of three brothers suspected in the Paris serial terror attacks in Friday that left 129 dead.

“The abject attacks that hit us on Friday were prepared overseas and mobilized a team in Belgium that benefited…from help in France”, French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve told reporters after meeting his Belgian counterpart in Paris.

In Jeumont, 50 officers arrived in 20 vehicles and searched a house in the Laennec Street area, according to L’observateur de la Sambre newspaper.

Meanwhile, French aircraft have attacked Raqqa, the stronghold in Syria of the Islamic State group, which has said it carried out the attacks.

It’s believed the 26-year-old was travelling in the direction of the Belgian border; Belgium has issued a warrant for his arrest.

Al Jazeera’s Paul Brennan, reporting from Brussels on Sunday, said security officials indicated that there was an ongoing search operation in the Belgian capital for Abdeslam and other suspects.

There are unconfirmed reports that a similar style attack might have been planned in Turkey for the same time but was foiled.

ISIL purportedly claimed responsibility for the attacks shortly after the incident but has also not revealed the identities of the attackers.
