Paris Terror Victims to Be Honored at National September 11 Memorial Site

One day after terrorist attacks in Paris claimed more than 120 lives and left over 300 more injured, teams around the National Hockey League paid tribute to the city and those affected. The student from the French Riviera would rather be home now, seeking comfort with friends and family. Now she’s dressed in white to commemorate “les martyrs”.

The Holocaust Remembrance and Restitution Foundation condemns in the strongest terms these despicable, disgusting and intolerable acts against the free peoples of France. “We are not going to let ourselves be swept away by hatred”, says Catherine Feuillet, France’s general consul in the city.

Marie Dautun, a French-Australian dual national, told The Age she decided not to attend the vigil because she just doesn’t feel safe any more. They survived, but have been too traumatised to talk about it yet. “We can’t just fly back and support our family as we should and we have the time difference as well, which makes it very hard”, she said. We believe that crimes like these start with intolerance in society, from intolerance comes evil, from evil comes crimes against humanity.

“Inexplicable, inexcusable and unforgettable”.

The crowds, a few waving the Tricolore flag, others with their hands in their pockets walked in silence towards the French Consulate on McGill College Avenue.
