Albuquerque Journal celebrates ‘Holly Day’ after Holm’s upset victory
Anyone who has listened to Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White talk about former women’s Bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey over the past three years knows he has a very high opinion of the talented Judoka.

The first round kicked off with 28-year-old Rousey throwing wild punches, but around the 20-second mark Holms connected a straight jab to her jaw after circling from the outside.
Tate then congratulated Holm before staking a claim to be named the new champion’s first opponent.
Now that Rousey has lost her “donut” in the loss column, Helwani asked if this means she’s been exposed and that she’s not as great as everything may have thought.
“We figured her aggression was coming, if it didn’t that’s OK, but with footwork and my career we figured she wouldn’t give me that space”.
“There was lots of blood, sweat and tears, but it sure was worth it. I’m trying to take this in, but this is insane”.
Rousey was left concussed and with face wounds – leaving her unable to attend the post-match press conference.
Miesha Tate was reportedly promised to fight the formerly undefeated Rousey at UFC 193 last night, before UFC chose to go with Holm instead.
In the other title bout, a bloodied Joanna Jedrzejczyk outlasted Valerie Letourneau to successfully defend her straw-weight belt in a five-round slugfest.
Organizers announced a crowd of 56,214 at Melbourne’s Etihad Stadium, which normally hosts Australian rules football matches.
She added: “Everything that we worked on presented itself in the fight”.
Sick of people making such a big deal it was a simple mistake you can’t be running in on tall people someone in her camp left that out!
“At the end of the day I made this fight”.
“Yeah, obviously. If you look at how Ronda is revered and is the baddest woman on the planet and… yeah, without a doubt”, said White.
“This was not a close fight”, said ESPN analyst and fellow UFC fighter Chael Sonnen on Saturday’s SportsCenter. Ronda had never faced anybody who uses the range and distance the way she does.
Rousey, 28, had won her previous 12 bouts and is considered the most feared female prize fighter in the world. “She’s been a world champion”, he said.

The matchup didn’t earn Rousey any sportsmanship points either.
