Scholes: Man Utd don’t need a philosophy

Van Gaal is still on the look out for improvements to his squad and a fresh batch of transfer rumours have just been unveiled today so on that note lets take a look at the stories now doing the rounds at Old Trafford. He was looking out at the same fans who had doubted his tactics and demanded Bayern attack with their old swagger.

The ginger midfielder is a confirmed admirer of the Spaniard, describing him as the most impressive Manchester United signing of the previous campaign. But the Dutch wants more “pace on the wings”.

If the early and often forgotten days of Sir Alex Ferguson had happened today, Manchester United would have nearly certainly seen several managerial upheavals.

Regardless of how trivial his comments are it will be interesting to see how boss Louis van Gaal responds to what appears to be a question of his decision making by David De Gea. The match-going supporters have lately begun airing their grievances over the on-pitch product, and even the manager himself has admitted that his side lack pace in attack.

If league position were determined by goals, United would be in eighth place. The teenager is already a key player at Elland Road and is also linked with moves to Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City.

But he’s had to wait for his opportunity to shine on the first-team stage at Old Trafford and Southgate believes United were right to show patience and keep faith in the player.
