Joanna Jedrzejczyk’s UFC career takes a hit due to constant hand injuries

It was recently reported that the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) had banned UFC welterweight Hector “Showeather” Lombard from cornering his teammate, Valerie “Trouble” Letourneau, in the biggest fight of her life against strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzeczyk at UFC 193 this Saturday (November 14, 2015).

“I would love to be a little bird sometimes to just go and see how she tells that to her friends and what is their reaction”, Letourneau said.

“I was training in gyms where there wasn’t even a locker for the girls”, Letourneau said in a press conference on Thursday. Jedrzejczyk was just faster, and struck in combinations while busting up the lead leg of the challenger.

A familiar face will more than likely be next for the 28-year-old Polish striker as Claudia Gadelha (13-1) will be next in line to challenge Jedrzejczyk. The UFC champion defended her status in a devastating TKO that left Valerie crying and stunned. The Las Vegas Sun’s picks panel doesn’t see either of the monumental upsets taking place as all four prognosticators went the more-than-safe route with Rousey and Jedrzejczyk.

“I try to be a professional athlete by staying in shape all the time but I want to take a rest after this fight”.

It’s been a whirlwind 18 months for the 32-year-old Letourneau, who only has one regret heading into her championship fight.

Additionally, Letourneau has the confidence of knowing she’s a different type of opponent than the champion has ever before faced.

But this is my job, this is how we do it, and I think it’s a good part because I’m not afraid. Of course, the UFC show featured no title fights and was up against tougher competition from a sporting perspective, as college football draws well in the US …

Canadian fighter Letourneau has rubbished those claims though, and thinks Jedrzejczyk might be overconfident. – Sherdog”I just wanted to take it easy”. Jedrzejczyk showed she has the cardio to last in the fourth and fifth rounds, while Gadelha has yet to prove that. When you base the thrust of your prefight promotion primarily around one fighter, it’s no surprise when people seem less interested in the rest.

The native of Poland ascended to the top of the division in March, when she won the title from Carla Esparza, then cemented her standing with a blistering performance against Jessica Penne in Berlin three months later.

No, it was a snooze fest.. Jedrzejczyk hurt Letourneau at several points during the fight, including in the first round, when she landed a front head kick to the chin that had the challenger visibly stunned.

It’s possible she could turn out to be an even bigger problem for Jedrzejczyk the second time around.

“I never had a doubt in my mind, but it’s been really, really hard for me to wait for my time”.
