Heavy rain in Tamil Nadu, death toll climbs to 71
The Army’s help has been sought to rescue people stranded at nearby Tambaram, Jayalalitha said. Director of Regional Metrological Department SR Ramanan had earlier said that since the cyclone now rests near Sri Lanka, heavy rains will continue for the next three days in Tamil Nadu.

These teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) will also be carrying 38 inflatable rubber boats along with other necessary equipment to undertake quick operations in the state.
