Kris Bryant Named NL Rookie Of The Year

313 (122-390) with 22 doubles, four triples, 12 home runs, 51 RBI and 12 stolen bases in 99 games, becoming the first Indians rookie with at least 10 steals, 10 homers, 20 doubles, 100 hits and. Well, 26 homers, 77 walks and a Cubs NLCS berth later, Bryant finally took his rightful place on the throne of rookies in the National League when he found out he’d been named the 2015 BBWAA NL Rookie of the Year. Although he struck out a NL leading 199 times, he did make the NL All-Star Team and reached the post-season with the Cubs.

Correa edged out Cleveland’s Francisco Lindor receiving 17 first-place and 13-second place votes giving him 124 points total.

Bryant (150 points) was followed in voting by Giants third baseman Matt Duffy (70), Pirates shortstop Jung Ho Kang (28), Mets right-hander Noah Syndergaard (16), Marlins first baseman Justin Bauer (4), Dodgers center fielder Joc Pederson (1) and Cardinals outfielder Stephen Piscotty (1).

Correa, the top pick in the 2012 amateur draft, made his debut June 8 and hit.

“I don’t think there was any pressure for myself, just because you’re surrounded by (other young players)”, Bryant said. “It really means a lot not only for them, but me as well”. “And I certainly exceeded my expectations this year”.

Whether or not Bryant becomes a huge crossover star and cashes in on all that marketing potential, he definitely proved that he could play at this level, even with only 181 minor-league games on his resume. This summer, though he didn’t win the Rookie of the Year award, he began to experience the reality. Everyone that’s been a huge support system for me for this whole season.

For Bryant, it wasn’t how he started but how he finished. Chicago brought up Bryant after waiting just long enough to ensure he can not become a free agent until after the 2021 season.

“Making a good play to save a run or help the team get momentum, I love it. That’s why you see me all pumped up when I make a play”.

Bryant has deceptive speed and baserunning ability.

No Tigers will win major awards this postseason, although former Tigers left-hander David Price, who was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays at the trade deadline, is among the favorites to win the AL Cy Young Award.

He didn’t specify if that was the reason, but the Cubs didn’t mind Bryant carrying that extra fire inside him.
