Cardinals deliver a blow to Seahawks

With 1:58 left in the game, Arizona lined up with three receivers to the right, an iso receiver to the left side, and ran Andre Ellington to the single-receiver side. 500 this late in a season for the first time since Tarvaris Jackson was their starting quarterback and team captain, Tacoma’s Marcus Trufant was starting games for them and the team was wearing those old metallic all-blues.

“He was fine”, Arians said.

Irvin hurt his knee during the fourth quarter of Sunday night’s 39-32 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. “It came from my heart”. We’ll put him through the protocol for precautionary measures and he’s a little stiff, but it was a very scary moment and we’re very happy to see him in the locker room smiling.

“It was raw emotion”, Stanton continued. “We overcame the plays that they made”. “The best I’ve ever seen him in all of the years he’s been out there playing”.

“We had them, we had a chance to win the football game we just didn’t hold the lead there”, Carroll said.

Arians’s concepts have commonalities and precedents, but no coach is better at taking base formations and throwing new wrinkles in the pot.

Palmer had been through something like this the last time he played in Seattle.

Arizona however wasn’t done, Palmer took his squad 83 yards on 10 plays and found Jermaine Gresham for the 14 yard touchdown pass to give them the lead back 32-29. While he doesn’t get mentioned as an MVP candidate as often as players such as Cam Newton or Andy Dalton or Tom Brady, he very much deserves to be in that conversation. It’s been a good factor for us all year, this is the first time it’s really jumped up like this. “We all understand that Carson is playing at an extremely high level and can make all the throws and get us where we’re trying to go this year”. Giving guys deep balls is not what we do. A lot of people were saying, ‘Get out of bounds, ‘ and I’m saying, ‘Stay in bounds. In a game in which Seattle would have been ahead of the game to control the clock with their running attack, Seattle went the other way and looked to rely on their passing game. What we tried to do this off-season was try and get as many alligators as we could. “So the battle of this season is to find it”, Carroll said.

Now, many around the National Football League will wonder if the Seahawks are simply has-beens with a 4-5 record and standing three games behind Arizona, which not only has a victory against Seattle but also the knowledge it plays host to the Seahawks in the regular-season finale January 3.

Even with a two-game lead in the NFC West at the midpoint of the season, the Cardinals have yet to prove they can topple the reigning division champions when the division race is still in question.

A perennial favorite to win the NFC West and perhaps make it back for a third straight NFC Championship appearance, Seattle (4-5) is in danger of being on the outside looking in when the playoffs role around in early January. He is unshakeable even in the face of defensive pressure and the mistakes it can bring.

Arians’ attention turned quickly to this week’s game against the unbeaten Cincinnati Bengals, the Cardinals’ second consecutive Sunday night appearance. Then three plays later, Baldwin got behind the Cards’ defense for a 32 yard scoring pass. With 4:52 left in the third quarter, the Cards’ lead was cut to 25-17.

“You throw J.J. (Nelson) in there, he played well in Cleveland”. “I don’t mind coming here with Carson any day of the week”. Seattle C Drew Nowak, who had started seven of the Seahawks’ first eight games, was inactive. “We want to go somewhere, and we have to go through those guys”.

After the game, Mathieu expanded on that thought. Fortunately, CT and MRI scans came back normal, and Iupati was able to fly back to Arizona with the team. “It was a great confidence-builder for us”. He did a great job of blocking Kam Chancellor, which is not an easy task.

Asked what it was like to spend 40 minutes chasing around one of the NFL’s best offenses, DE Cliff Avril, the star of Seattle’s comeback, was blunt.
