Before the crackdown, there was a weekly average of 78 Israeli army “search and arrest operations” carried out across the occupied West Bank in 2015, according to United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, however there has recently been a sharp increase in such operations.

“The Israeli army confirmed that a man who tried to attack the operatives during the raid had been shot but did not have details of his condition”.

Yousef Munayyer, executive director of the Washington-based US Campaign to End Israeli Occupation, stressed that “President Obama should not acquiesce and give Netanyahu this or any prize as long as United States support is complicit in Israel’s violations of global law and human rights abuses against Palestinians”.

The slain relatives were driving through the West Bank when the shots rang out, wounding at least one other teen passenger in the vehicle before “the terrorist fled the scene”, according to the Israeli military.

Abdullah Azzam Shalaldah, 28, was shot several times by forces who raided the surgery unit of al-Ahli hospital in order to detain his cousin, Azzam Ezzat Shalaldah, 20, who was shot by an Israeli settler last month, hospital staff told Ma’an.

Also Friday, a Palestinian was shot and killed in clashes with Israeli troops during a protest rally in the West Bank.

However, he said Azzam needed to remain in hospital as “some wounds were still in the healing phase”. “As soon as they entered the room they tied me to the bed”.

“When Mahdi was martyred, Fatah came and said he is one of us”.

In occupied east Jerusalem, around 200 Palestinians clashed with security forces as they demanded the return of the bodies of alleged attackers from the area.

This recent wave of terror attacks must be seen in the context of rampant Palestinian incitement, particularly with regard to conspiracy theories being circulated about Israeli intentions regarding Jerusalem’s Temple Mount/Al-Aqsa mosque compound.

While the arrest process was taking place, one of Shalaldeh’s family members attacked Israeli authorities and was shot, according to the Israel Securities Authority, which is also known as Shin Beit.

Abdullah, from the Hebron-area village of Sair, was the 80th Palestinian to be killed since October 1.

The Prisoners Society, however, added that more than 2,000 Palestinians were detained by Israeli forces since the beginning of the new Palestinian “Intifada” (“popular uprising”) in October; 500 of them were transferred to administrative detention, it added.

However, Israel disputes this and the Israeli foreign ministry has summoned the European Union ambassador to the country and said it would suspend diplomatic dialogue in the coming weeks.
