Frampton: They will boo Quigg in Manchester

While opinion seems to be split over who will prevail, Frampton insists he will improve on his points win over Alejandro Gonzalez in July during which he survived two first round knockdowns.

Tickets will be split 50-50 into Frampton and Quigg sections at the 20,000-seater venue, but Frampton expects Irish fans to take over the arena.

“A lot of people want to watch this fight”.

Frampton puts his IBF world title on the line while Quigg will look to defend his WBA strap, but the fight is undoubtedly capturing the attention of the general public due to the nature of their rivalry and the time it has taken for their respective promotional companies to agree on the fight. “I don’t know what it’s going to be like for him, standing on the ramp as the home fighter and getting booed, or getting a worse reception than me”.

Carl Frampton was grateful for the reception in Manchester and hopes Scott Quigg will receive similar treatment in Belfast.

“It would have been a shame if it didn’t happen”.

“I think my amateur background will be the difference”, said Frampton. “It had to happen for boxing”. “I think I can knock him out and I think I will probably late on but I will probably bamboozle him with my boxing early on”, said Frampton.

“The only reason this fight is happening is because of my last performance, which was not very good, I will admit that myself”.

“I’ve been after this fight for at least four years”. Tickets will go on sale on Friday at 9am.

“I’m over the moon”.

“I came back home, I was watching the stuff that was going on around France in the news, so I went to bed quite late”.

“I won’t be celebrating Christmas this year because I will be training for this fight”.
