Mario Balotelli facing 3 months out at AC Milan

Balotelli rejoined Milan on a season-long loan deal over the summer, but has made just three Serie A appearances due to a recurring groin injury.

Liverpool forward Mario Balotelli has been ruled out of action for around three months, after it was revealed that he requires a hernia operation to cause a problem that has troubled him for a few time.

And, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, Balotelli will now be out until mid-February at the earliest, putting his chances of making Italy’s Euro 2016 squad at risk.

The Liverpool loanee has not played since a 1-0 defeat to Genoa on September 27, with coach Sinisa Mihajlovic, speaking last month, refusing to put a timeframe on the striker’s return.

Although the 25-year-old Italian global has struggled this season and has only scored one goal from four appearances, it is still better than his time at Anfield where he could only score one goal in 16 appearances for the Merseyside club last season.

A consultation with Professor Per Holmich in Copenhagen has revealed a more serious inguinal hernia, meaning surgery is the only option.
