The French embassy in Singapore is holding a memorial service for the almost 130 people who died in a wave of terror attacks across Paris late last week.

Manish Prabhat, Indian Deputy Chief of Mission in Paris too assured that Indians were safe.

He said that since the embassy staff was not allowed to go out due to restrictions imposed by French authorities, “we don’t have a ground report and there is no independent way of finding it out”. “So far, no casualty of any Indian has been reported, though we have been receiving a number of calls through the helpline number which we released in the wake of the attack”, said Prabhat. “The French Embassy is deeply grateful for the numerous messages of support received from Indian citizens of all walks of life and opinions”, he said. Reinforced measures are being implemented throughout the Paris region.

He stated that the borders of France will be open for public travel through the Schengen visa; however, tight security will be in place to check the entry and exit of people involved in terrorism or potential terrorists. A defense council meeting took place at 1.30pm (New Delhi time). As far as India is concerned, he said security measures of the French diplomatic and institutional premises are being strengthened. “Our prayers with families affected and solidarity with France”, he tweeted.
