MI among those states not welcoming refugees
US governors-including Michigan’s Governor Rick Snyder, are saying no to Syrian refugees. Here in the USA, governors are second-guessing their acceptance of Syrian refugees.

Governor Rick Snyder stresses that he’s only pausing, not ending, plans to welcome refugees from Syria and other Middle East countries to MI.
“Slamming the door in their face would be a betrayal of our values”, said president Obama, adding that the United States is fully capable of vetting refugees. He has worked with local refugees and he opposes the Governor’s move.
“This is just really a disappointment and we’re hopeful that he’ll get back on the right track”, Drennan said. We talk with State Sen.
City officials have yet to comment on Snyder’s change of heart, but the impression is that the decision to close Michigan’s doors was a politically motivated one considering it is in line with the governor’s stance against immigration reform.
Reem Akkad, a Syrian American who volunteers with the Syrian American Rescue Network in the metro Detroit area, says the decision is unfortunate.
Since the terrorists attacks in Paris last week, and reports linking one of the attackers to the refugees coming to France from Syria, there have been growing concerns from several USA governors about the security clearance of the Syrian refugees coming to this country.
“The real question is, was that ever an accurate claim to begin with?” “Most of these folks are not terrorists”, says Gov. Snyder.
