Rain showers return Monday
Numerous trees and sheds were destroyed, windows were blown out and power lines were knocked down, according to storm reports gathered by the National Weather Service. Because this will be a nocturnal storm threat, we remind you to please have access to severe weather alerts while sleeping. Many weather-related deaths and injuries occur after people go to bed, so it’s important to know how to get a severe weather alert after going to bed. The area is in a “slight” risk for severe weather-this means there is a higher chance than usual for strong thunderstorms.

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency is asking residents to prepare for severe storms that are possible for Mississippi Tuesday into Wednesday.
Although the squall line should pass through the area in a matter of hours, the system will be capable of straight-line winds of 40 to 70 mph. The brunt of the storm system will be felt tomorrow with possibly risky straight line winds and flash floods.
Father north, forecasters think that most of the storms will be moving through overnight, which should help limit the risk of severe weather.
That storm will again sweep northeast into the Midwest, while the trailing cold front pushes east. This front will pick up considerable Gulf moisture on its way toward us, leading to our next chance for rain on Wednesday. Any flash flooding creates a unsafe situation.
Monday night through Tuesday, snow or a rain/snow mixture changing to snow will move into parts of eastern Colorado, eastern Wyoming, western Nebraska, northwest Kansas and southwest South Dakota.

The storm system is expected to move out of the state by late Wednesday, with more tranquil weather expected for the west of the work week. Lows around 59. Highs around 65.
